If you don’t already know, I have a second blog that I run called Help Desk Geek that focuses on providing tips to IT professionals.
Previously, I wrote an article on that site called 99 ways to make your computer blazingly fast that listed out 99 performance tips, registry hacks, and free programs you could use to make your computer as fast as possible.
Since that article was really popular, I decided to write another 99 list post, but this time focused on freeware programs that you may have not heard of.

Throughout history, people have had “to do” lists. Whether it was something as mundane as taking out the trash on Friday, or as elaborate as conquering the Roman Empire, at some point, we have had to jot down a task somewhere in case we forgot. In doing so, we also had to recall where we wrote down what we had to do. Had we not remembered where the note went, the trash would have been there on Saturday, or plans of overthrowing Rome may have fell victim to procrastination.

I’ve previously written about several collaboration tools such as Yakkle and the more robust 37signals. But like any tech person, I always keep an eye out for the next tool to come along and blow everyone away.
In this post we’re going to talk about a new online team collaboration tool called Ubidesk. What makes Ubidesk stand out from it’s competitors is that it has a very clean interface and a great set of features.

Looking for a free way to swap or trade your stuff with other people online? I bought a Xbox 360 about a year ago and now have about 15 games that I don’t play anymore. It would be nice to be able to trade my games for games someone else has that I haven’t played yet.
SwapTree is a cool online service that lets you trade books, CDs, DVDs, and games online for free with millions of other people.

Do you know your neighborhood or city like the back of your hand? Maybe you know all the best pizza places in the city or all the hole-in-the-wall restaurants that you know people would love to eat at?
Whatever you reason, it would be cool to create your own online maps that you can then share and monetize for free, right? Or maybe you have a website and you want to create an online map and then embed it in your blog?

Need to plan an event with a group of friends who live all over the country or all over the world? Maybe a baby shower or a vacation to Mexico? A good way to plan these type of events is to use event management software instead of email.
Previously, I had written about a service called ActiveCiti that lets you create and manage events online. It’s a good service, but I always keep an eye out for new services that do the same thing better.
