You can blog from absolutely any computer with this trick—which makes this perfect for bloggers on-the-go.
First, download Windows Live Writer Portable and extract the file onto your USB drive.
Click Start then Computer and double-click your USB drive on the list of available drives.
Navigate to the folder called WindowsLiveWriterPortable (you may have extracted to a folder called WLWPortable3, in which case click it instead, then you will see the WindowsLiveWriterPortable folder).
Double-click the WindowsLiveWriter.exe file.
A window will appear telling you WindowsLiveWriter.exe was not found. It asks if you would like to copy your local installation of the program. Click yes.
In the window that opens, navigate to your Windows Live>Writer folder.
Click OK. The program will then copy your Live Writer files. When it is done, you can eject your USB drive, then open Live Writer on another computer by going to the WindowsLiveWriterPortable folder and clicking the WindowsLiveWriterPortable.exe file.
Just for fun, we tried to install Windows Live Writer Portable to our network drive—it worked like a charm. So, if you work in an office with a virtual hard drive, you can save the Windows Live Writer Portable files to it, then use the program on any computer on the network.
