Walter Glenn

Walter Glenn is in charge of AKIC's strategy and editorial direction. His job is to develop the longterm direction for our sites and oversee editorial best practices. For the past several decades, Walter has worked as an editorial director, managing editor, and writer.

Walter Glenn is the Strategy and Editorial Director for the AK Internet Consulting (AKIC) media network.

Experience

For the past several decades, he's worked as an editorial director, managing editor, line editor, and writer. Before coming to AKIC, Walter served as the editorial director for multiple sites owned by LifeSavvy media, including their flagship site, How-To-Geek. Before that, he was a writer and then senior editor at Lifehacker.

An expert on topics like Windows, Word, Outlook, Exchange Server, Windows Server, computer hardware, and general networking, Walter has written or co-written over 30 books for publishers like Microsoft Press, O'Reilly, and Pearson. He's also written hundreds of technical white papers, articles, user manuals, and courseware over the years---mostly for Microsoft.

Walter is also a veteran of the computer industry, having worked as a computer technician, network administrator, trainer, and freelance consultant.

Education

Walter holds a Bachelor's degree in English and computer science from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and at one point held just about every Microsoft certification offered, including Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), Microsoft Certified Information Specialist (MCIS), and Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT).
