Transform Windows XP into Windows Vista using Vista Transformation Pack 8

Posted on November 29, 2007 at 3:00 pm

Windows XP users have something really great to cheer about: Windows Vista Transformation Pack 8 has been released and is completely free! Yes, you can turn your boring Windows XP interface into an exact replica of Windows Vista using this transformation pack. The pack has fixed many bug and issues with the GUI interface that were in the previous version.

Vista Transformation Pack 8 will replace just about every aspect of the Windows interface with the new Windows Vista Aero Glass look, including:

  • Windows Boot Screen
  • Welcome Screen / Logon Screen
  • Updated msstyles files for Visual Styles
  • New, better-looking Desktop and File icons
  • New toolbar icons
  • Vista looking progress dialogs
  • Vista Sound Scheme
  • System Tray icons
  • New Vista Wallpapers
  • Vista style Windows Media Player skins

Other cool features include the ability to save setup information and configuration for later use with unattended transformations. Also, True Transparency 0.8.5 (the glass border with Aero Style skin) and WinFlip (Vista 3DFlip) has been added to this release.

Here are some screenshots of the new interface after installing the Vista Transformation Pack:

Nirmal, I also heard that the last one had a good number of bugs, etc, but I think he has fixed most of them in this release.

Kfozo, I think the transformation pack will probably eat us less resources on your computer than if you were running Windows Vista. Not sure how resource-intensive it is though.

If anyone else has tried it out, post a comment and tell us what you think!

Haris & Madhur – I’ve read in a couple of places that the new version works much better than version 7. I haven’t tested it out myself though.
