I have a Windows 7 install and although I can connect to my home network, I get a valid IP address, I am unalbe to get out to the internet. I have tried all of the following.
1. uninstalled and reinstalled the network card
2. disabled and enabled the network card
3. Toggle Automatically Detect Settings option
4. resetting the modem
5. RESET Internet Explorer under TOOLS/INTERNET OPTIONS / ADVANCED, RESET button;and also go to the START MENU RUN type msconfig
6. Type “netsh winsock reset” and reboot

Can someone help as I am so frustrated after spending so many hours fooling around with this. And I have reinstalled Windows 7 3 times now with still no difference. I can't get out on the internet.

Have 2 HP computers purchased 6 months apart. One is an 11" Netbook, the other a 17" Laptop. Both with Win 7 Home Premium. The Netbook connects wirelessly without any problem as does an old IBM and the Nook. The Laptop refuses to connect. Works when wired. Keeps indicating that WIN 7 cannot connect. Connects with no problem to an unsecured network w/o a security key. Worked with HP customer services, no luck. Returned the Laptop for service, HP indicated that there was no problem with the Laptop. Security set at WPA2 as per HP suggestion. Have tried almost everything I can find. Have done 2 or 3 clean reinsatlls of the entire system. Nada. Using Verizon FIOS. It's probably something simple but can't figure it out. Noticed a few more suggestions that I can try but not very hopeful.

Windows 7 has been working fine for me, without any troubles, until now.
Then again, it might not be the OS, I am not totally sure yet.
I feel I have done everything possible to try and fix this on my own, and with advice I read on several forums.
Anyways, the PC I am using right now is running Windows XP and the internet is working (obviously< or I couldn't write this) and there are two seperate routers besides the cable modem itself.
This is how everything is setup, and had been working great until just a few days ago.
There is the initial cable modem itself, and from that I have a line that run to a router, and from there it goes to the PC I am now on.
There is also a second line that runs from the router, and it goes upstairs to another router, which is also wireless, and from there it goes to the upstairs PC.
Now, the wireless still functions just fine, but the upstirs PC, which has Windows 7, can no longer connect to the internet.
The reason is the usual “Doesn’t have a valid IP configuration”?
I have never had this problem before, ever.
I don't think the problem is the routers, because I have been using them without any incident, in the configuration I described, for many months.
I even did a clean re-install of Windows 7 and the problem still continues.
I had heard that Bonjour from iTunes has an effect on how the system runs, but I no longer have that installed.
Sorry this is such a long message, but the more info, the better off someone will be to give me some advice.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I had 2 Windows 7 PCs that would not connect to the internet via IE, Opera or Firefox, though all of these programs would connect to the internet using XP SP3. I found a solution - install and run "The World" browser - it works like a lite version of IE and works flawlessly with Windows 7: solved.

I have had Windows 7 for about a year now and for the first 4 months it worked perfectly. But for the last 8 months it has been horrible. It will connect to the Internet and then disconnect from the Internet after about 5 minutes and then it takes about 5 minutes to get it to connect again. I ran a Virus Scan and it detected a Trojan virus (which I then fixed and got rid of). That was about 2 weeks ago. Now it is acting the exact same as it did before I got rid of the Trojan Virus. I ran a Virus Scan again and it only detected some cookies (so nothing big) but it still has this problem and I really can't do anything on my PC for that long because of this. I think this problem is caused by a virus but I am not 100% sure.

If anyone could give me suggestions or tips on how to get this solved I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you.

Purchased new Dell computer with Windows 7 installed. Had problems getting on internet and once on would drop consistently.

TRied every thing found on internet to correct without success.

Replaced Linksys router with new Linksys router with complete firmware updates and all was fixed.

Few days ago, I suddenly was unable to connect to inet via wireless network, using 2 laptops and one desktop.

I verified DSL working (hardwired to modem, using static IP able to connect). The wireless cards are receiving the normal strong signal, ipconfig reveals IP address starting with 192., so seems the router is working? That is my question.

Interesting point (maybe) - is that one on my laptops is for my work, I connect to my company via ATT Network Client. I cannot cannect to the internet until I establish connect via ATT Net Client, where I used to be able to before this 'issue'. I am connecting via Local Area connection (hardiwred) - to the router (I never had used wireless on my work laptop).

Yet. I am not able to connect to inet hardwired to the other laptop/desktop via router.

I do not know what piece of this puzzle is the culprit and would apporeciate advice on how to figure this out.

Thanks!

Problems in my windows 7 that need to be solved are as follows. Could someone please help me out of it?

My windows 7 has been working perfectly until today. Since my roommate changed the wireless password, I couldn't connect to my home internet anymore (I tried to connect to others, and it works fine).

I've tried:
1. Uninstall Network Card
2. Enable/Disable Network Card
3. Try Network Troubleshooter
4. Reboot the cable/router

but none of them could resolve the problem.

Do I have to re-install my win 7?

Please help me.

PEOPLE!

If the methods stated in the article don't work, try my advice. It is guaranteed to work for all versions of Windows 7.

1. Run Command Prompt as Administrator
(All Programs/Accessories/(right-click on Command Prompt and choose Run as Administrator).

2. Type "netsh winsock reset".

3. Restart your PC or laptop.

This will help you not encounter the same problem EVER.

Enjoy!
