The ultimate online task management and tracking software

Posted on October 4, 2007 at 8:50 am

I have personally reviewed several web-based task management and task tracking applications over the last few months, but after playing around with TaskBin, I would have to say that it is by far the best. TaskBin takes the best features of other task management programs and combines them into one well-developed, feature-laded FREE application.

The best part of TaskBin at this point in time is the fact that while in Beta, anyone who signs up will have free access to the service forever and I emailed their support to confirm this. So if you’re looking for a intuitive well thought out solution for managing tasks and To-Do lists, you should sign up soon!

Now for all of the cool features of TaskBin! First and foremost is the ability to manage and track all of your upcoming and completed tasks in one central location. You can quickly mark items as complete and the tasks can have one of four priorities: To be done today, tomorrow, this week, or done sometime soon. You can also filter the tasks quickly by priority. The main page also has a NotePad on the right side that you can use to jot down personal notes.

However, that’s just the beginning of what TaskBin can do. The real power of TaskBin comes in using it’s group collaboration features, which allows you to easily share tasks with other group members and to add other people’s tasks to your task list page.

You can also quickly edit tasks, add comments to tasks, and see all previous changes to a task. The cool thing that I like about TaskBin is that it keeps a history of all changes to a task, which is great when multiple people are working on the same thing.

If you have a large number of people on your team, viewing their tasks on your home page might be a bit too much. In that case, you can still access anyone else’s tasks in the group by using the alphabetized navigation bar across the top.

There are also security levels associated with each user, such as a normal user vs an Administrator. You can create multiple groups and then designate a particular user to administer the group. In this way, it’s possible to create independent autonomous groups that can help decentralize administration of a large number of groups.

The other cool features that I liked are the ability to change the theme, to subscribe to your tasks someone else’s tasks via RSS and to chat with other members from directly within TaskBin. The themes provided by TaskBin are actually quite nice looking and you can chat with others by adding a MeeboMe widget into TaskBin.

Overall, one of the best web apps I have seen for managing tasks. Also, as if that was not enough, you can access your tasks via a mobile device such as the iPhone, etc and you can have your a summary of your tasks emailed to you daily, etc.

So sign up now if you want to have free access to this great service forever!
