Free web photo album-gallery software from Vicman

Finding good and free online web photo album/gallery web sites these days is pretty tough! I use Picasa Web Albums, but I don’t like the fact that there is absolutely nothing else I can do with that photo album to customize it the way I want. It’s basically just a thumbnail picture and everything is white! But that’s not really good enough for an online photo album.

Recently, I took some pictures of a friends birthday and it would be nice if each album could have it’s own theme, making it more personable and fun for family and friends. Flickr is also popular, but it has the same issues. Luckily, I found an online photo gallery software that is a great complement to Picasa and Flickr.

Web Photo Album Generator from Vicman software is a free web album software that is highly customizable and very stylish. The GUI interface is completely Web 2.0 with nice graphics and colors.

The other thing that I like about Web Photo Album Generator is that it has two parts (like Picasa): a desktop application where you can create all of your albums and set up them the way you like in terms of themes, fonts, etc, and then the ability to share your albums online by uploading the files to Vicman’s free hosting service.

From what I could tell, there doesn’t seem to be a limit on the number of photos you can upload to their free hosting service, Pho.to. Once the album is uploaded, a link is generated that you can use on your blog, forum, web site, or send via email.

The great thing about this software is that each album can have it’s own gallery design or theme ranging from Christmas to Easter, Birthdays to Outdoors.

Another couple of nice features include the ability to drag and drop single images or entire folders into the software application directly and the ability to create albums within albums. That’s one of the major problems that I currently have with Picasa, there’s simply no way to create sub-folders inside of an album! With Web Photo Album Generator, you can create an album called 2007 and then have an album called Christmas inside of that!

Adding photos to an album is very quick even with a large number of photos. Once you’re done, you can upload them to their free hosting service or export them to a folder on your computer.

This is a really great piece of freeware software that does a very good job of creating and sharing nice-looking web photo albums. Enjoy!
