Thanks for this information, but is NovaPDF an actively updated program? As in, are there new features added to it and is it updated for the latest operating systems? I want to encrypt my PDF files, but don't want to use a program that might not be around after a few years.

Instead of using a whole new program like this to encrypt PDF files, why not just use a normal program to create a PDF and then use EFS or BitLocker in Windows to encrypt the files? Or you can use TrueCrypt, which also has many other handy and useful features.
