Edit and split MP3 audio files using MP3DirectCut

Looking for a free program to cut, edit, and split MP3 files quickly and easily? You’ll find many programs out there to edit audio files, like Audacity, etc, but I just came across another one that’s super tiny and yet has a lot of good features.
MP3DirectCut allows you to edit MPEG audio files directly, no need to convert the MP3 file to WAV or WMV, etc, etc. You can do just about everything with the audio file that a much larger and more professional app would allow, such as removing or deleting parts of the audio file, adjusting the volume, splitting the audio file, or copy a portion to a new audio file.
Since you don’t have to re-encode the audio file, you can chop up the audio file while preserving the sound quality. The program also has a built-in recorder, so you can create an MP3 on the fly using the audio input on your computer!
This is really great if you want to capture a song from the radio and convert it to MP3 or from your TV. Of course, you’ll need the right cords for all of this, which you can search for on Google.
Here are some of the major features of MP3DirectCut:
- Change volume, fade, normalize and pause detection
- Record MP3s with ACM or Lame encoder
- Visualize MP3 and navigate file easily
- Support for Layer 2 (DVD/DVB Audio)
- ID3v1.1 MP3 tag editor
- Split tracks with file name and tags
- Trim, crop, fast play and loop play options
- Cut, copy and paste without loss of audio quality
- Cut sheet support
The program has a lot of features packed into it, so you would be well advised to first read the how-to manual by clicking on the ? at the top right of the menu. Also, if you hover over the buttons, you will get a description of what it does.
It’s a bit confusing in the beginning to figure out how the program works, but once you get the hang of it, it’s really the fastest audio editor I’ve used so far! Definitely worth if you edit MP3 files often. Enjoy!
