Desktoptopia is a desktop wallpaper manager for Macs that automatically loads and displays high quality designer wallpapers on your monitor as often as you like. They have a huge collection of really great-looking wallpapers and the price is only $20. I usually don’t like to write about software that costs money unless I find it to be pretty cool and very useful!

For Mac lovers and their usually large thin and beautiful screens, this is a great piece of software to spice up the screen. The desktop backgrounds are created by top designers in various fields like Architecture, Abstract, 3D, etc and only the best ones are chosen.

The software allows you to choose which categories you wish to display wallpapers from, how often you want to change your background, and even supports multiple screens so you can display different wallpapers or the same one on dual monitor systems!

Another nice things about Desktoptopia is that the software automatically detects your computer screen’s resolution and only displays backgrounds that will fit correctly, so you don’t have to worry about any distortion.

You can also rate each wallpaper using the menu bar and subscribe to the Top Rated wallpapers as chosen by the other Desktoptopia users.

If you’re curious, the top resolution supported by the software for wallpapers and backgrounds is 2560×1600. So unless you have a 35 inch monitor and a super graphics card, your monitor will be supported. The software runs on OS X 10.1 or higher.

Also, the wallpapers designed for Desktoptopia are usually quite clean and usable so that you can actually see what’s happening on your desktop rather than everything becoming hidden due to a cluttered wallpaper.
