Browse the web while being connected to your social network using Flock

Do you like browsing the web? Do you also enjoy checking your Facebook account? Or how about checking out the latest Twitters from your friends? Well, maybe you simply enjoy watching crazy people doing crazy things on YouTube? Or possibly you’re really into pictures and are always on Flickr?
Hmm, well that’s a lot of Web 2.0 social networking sites one has to visit in order to perform all of those tasks. However, it’s something most people do every day, i.e. either 5 windows open on their computer desktops or 5 tabs!
Well that’s where a cool new social network web browser comes in and saves the day. Flock is a a new type of browser that meshes together the social web and Internet browsing into one seamless experience.
The coolest thing about Flock that makes it different than Firefox and IE is it’s tight integration with social networking sites. The new beta 1.0 version of Flock comes standard with Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, and YouTube integrated into the sidebar as you can see from the picture above.
The best part about the Facebook integration is that you can upload photos directly to Facebook and post links. Some things take you to the Facebook site, but the options are available in the sidebar as shortcuts. The Twitter app also works well with the ability to send direct messages, update profiles, and nudge.
There is also support for Photobucket, Piczo, del.icio.us and Magnolia. A couple of other neat features of Flock include the Media MiniBar, which provides a unique filmstrip of your favorite photos streamed from Facebook, Flickr, YouTube, and more.
Flock has another feature called the Web Clipboard that basically allows users to drag and drop anything they want including URLs, text and images that can then be easily referenced later on.
Using Flock, you can also use it as a blogging client. It’s obviously not the most feature rich blogging client out there, but it’s definitely a useful feature to have. The only really bad thing about Flock when it comes to using it as a blogging client is that it doesn’t automatically upload images for you! You have to upload them to Flickr or Facebook, which is kind of stupid.
On the brighter side, it does have a built-in RSS reader, which allows users to read their feeds locally.
Overall, Flock is a pretty cool web browser that has something unique to offer for social networking freaks. It’s got a great user interface, lots of features, and loads up quickly.
