It seems that a lot of bloggers out there still don’t understand how important it is to write a good title for each post.

Abi,

Yes I did notice that your site had descriptive post titles for each entry, however, I still think that it would be better for your main page to have a better title. I don't mean that the title should be on every single post as some blogs have it, the title should be unique for each post.

However, having your main page with just the title is missing out on more search engine traffic, at least I feel. It's fine to have the META tags with all of that info, but the title is important. And again, only on the index page, not on every single post.

Dear Sir,

Thanks for featuring HeatEatReview.com as a resource for frozen and microwave meal reviews.

I believe you're confusing Blog Post titles and Blog Titles. You're right, HeatEatReview would make for a bad post title. Fortunately, that is not a title of a single post on the site. Instead, the over 300 reviews on HeatEatReview.com are titled according to the name of the meal being reviewed. When I designed the information architecture for HeatEatReview.com, I made the decision not to add unnecessary words to the title of the blog. Instead, that information is being accurately used in site's metadata.

Adding a long string of description to the title of a site may seem like a good idea in the short term, but most pages on a site also have their own titles, which means that the long description won't be visible (and might even look raggedy) when someone is searching for the site via Google or Yahoo.

If an author or editor can't be bothered to come up with accurately descriptive titles for blog posts then your advice may be valid, but there should be a lot of thought about the aim and purpose of a site before it is adopted across the board.

Sincerely,
Abi Jones
Editor, HeatEatReview.com
