@thomgu: I think by now you are convinced that Lookeen is a really good search tool, but nevertheless I wanted to answer your question. My experiences with Lookeen are very good. Searching your mails with Lookeen and keeping your computer free of useless stuff makes life with Outlook a lot easier.

Quando abro o Outlook ele fica lento e não abre de jeito nenhum. Quando clico em algo nele aparece na tela a mensagem “NÃO RESPONDENDO”. Ai tranca tudo. Tenho de fechá-lo e ir abrindo até que tenha boa vontade para funcionar. O que há com ele?

Even the “lighter” version of Outlook is not as fast as I’d wish it to be. I think a good search tool is way more better to speed up work with Outlook, the integrated search is sloooooowwwwwwww…

Anyone has experiences with lookeen? I installed it yesterday and I hadn’t much time to test it yet, but at the moment I really like it.

Good post, my Outlook was loading very slowly and I could not figure out why. Now it’s starting up much faster.

Thank you kindly for these tips, Disabling the addons (which i never use anyway) sorted my snail slow Outlook. I had at first thought it was something to do with my migration to Windows 7 and transfer of my backup files, incidently, the backup addin is quite useful!

My Outlook was running very slow and I found out that it was because of the Adobe Reader and SnagIt plugins! I had boh enabled and didn’t have any idea that they could be causing problems. Once i disabled them, Outlook is no longer having problems. Thanks.

I had the same issue. The Symantec plugin (corporate edition) in outlook was the culprit. You can disable by doing follow:

Click Tools> Options > Others tab > Advanced Options > Add In Manager

Unselect Symantec plugin (or any other junk plugins) and restart Outlook.

When I right click on the office 12, it doesn’t give me the option to “run as administrator”. How do I work around that??

To really accelerate Outlook 2007 you need to disable instant messaging “Tools>options>Other>Messenging”

You should see a faster loading outlook now.

I’m trying to apply the above to my ancient, 2002 version. Earlier this week, MS auto updates prompted me to download something to do with SP3, which as a dutiful MS user, I did. Starting Outlook has been next to IMPOSSIBLE since then! Freezes, not respond messages . . I even did a system restore to BEFORE I hit the fateful “install” button, but it is still TERRIBLE!!!! It takes a good 10 to 15 minutes to load. Any suggestions for this older version? (Other than buy a new computer and new software.) Help! (and Thanks.)
