I am going to embark on self training for Excel. However I have an immediate need that you might answer. A co-worker has designed a spreadsheet that is near perfect for our needs. The only flaw I have found as yet is basically an accounting function. We have a tank that fills, gets drained and refills, much like friends owing us money, paying the debt and then getting another loan. Is there a function that may be inserted into the existed counting formula which will tell it to not count the "drains" so that the tank appears to continuously fill? The fills are not important to us, only the amount of fluid traveling through the tank. Sorry, I cannot provide the exact formula.

Your best guess will be appreciated.

Thanks

Check out the COUNTIFS function in Excel 2007 - it allows you to count on multiple criteria. You can see an example here
