… after going through days of trying to stop IE7 and 8 from closing I followed your advise on re-registering dlls and IE7 has stayed open for a record 10 minutes and counting. Very Hopeful Thanks!

thanks a lot this was an annoying problem….i disabled the third party add ons and that solved the problem so i then went in and figured out the most recent add on i downloaded prior to the issue (it was the ask/limewire tool bar downloaded with the latest version of limewire) i uninstalled it and all is good again!! if it wasnt for your tip i would have never figured it out!

Im not getting this error, infact im getting this error with Winrar, it says ”Archiver has encountered a problem and needs to close” How can i fix it?

I had this problem as well. Tried a bunch of different things (lots of the above), but my fix turned out to be something completely different. If anyone has downloaded the Ant toolbar to either download flv’s or many of its other features, turns out that in limited cases, this toolbar can also cause this problem. If you’re using it, try just disabling it. This got rid of my encountered…etc. problem. To confirm I re-enabled, problem came back. Re-disabled, problem gone again. Ditched it completely after that. No problems since.

well I did the sfc/scannow and it came back saying there were corrupt files and it was unable to fix them, then I tried the re-registering of the dlls and about four of them said that it couldnt and that it failed. Now I am freaked out what do I do??????

I never cease to be amazed at the damn sloppy way Microsoft runs these programs. We spend good hard earned money, make them exceedingly rich and continue to try and bust our hump working with crap. Vista is so far from being half a program, that I would not invest the money in windows 7, not certain if I would take it for free. I went from XP right into a new pc added vista thinkingI would be OK and have few if no problems, “what a joke on me”.

I have searched for 2 years to try and find what causes programs to close and no amount of work will end this damn problem. All that is recommeded is that I download more crap programs for more of my money and the programs still close. What causes this damn crap and will we ever see the program work OK. I hate to think of windows 7 and what that will be like if I reach a point that I need to upgrade. Hopefully someone else will have a program that runs before I get to the point of upgrading. Alen
