Crawler - Toolbar for Internet Explorer

I can hear the groans and imagine the eye rolls already. “Another toolbar?!?” Yes, Crawler Toolbar is another free toolbar, which can be added to Internet Explorer. Before you stop reading, you may be interested to know about the myriad of features this particular toolbar has to offer.
In a previous post, the Spyware Terminator product was reviewed. During the installation routine of Spyware Terminator, you have the option of installing the Crawler Toolbar. Alternatively, you can go directly to the website (www.crawler.com) and get the toolbar separately.
Now that we know how to get, let’s see what it can do. After installing the Crawler Toolbar, a section is added to Internet Explorer, akin to other toolbars. The two small screen captures below show the parts of it.
The background of Crawler is a search engine website. Included in the toolbar is this search feature, among other choices of search engines. You a not limited to only using the Crawler engine. You also have the choices of Google, Yahoo, MSN, and Ask.com. Just click on the red C icon in the search region to find other options.
However, the options do not only encompass search engines. In the More Searches menu, you can navigate to Google News, Google Images, as well as White and Yellow Page links. Need quick access to a dictionary or thesaurus? They can be located in this menu as well.
Some looking at this toolbar are wondering what the Look for File feature does. Glad you asked! Clicking on this button, brings up the Uniblue ProcessLibrary.com website. This website carries specific description on files that may, or may not, be currently on your Windows computer. Ever wanted to know what alg.exe does? Simply type it in the ProcessLibrary’s “Find a process…” search area, and click Find.
So far we have scratched the surface of Crawler Toolbar. Now we are going to dig deeper to find other options and services. By clicking on the Services button, we are presented with a whole shopping list of things to be added or edited. A couple of them, like the Screensavers section, may be unappealing. But the Desktop Weather, RSS Feed Reader, and Desktop Notes may sound more intriguing.
This section give a person the ability to add more goodies to their Internet and Desktop tools lineup. Keep in mind that the items in bold, are already installed. The exception to this is the Browser Tools section. This area holds add-ons specifically for you web browser. Some of the options are a spell checker, a web form filler, a popup blocker, and a download manager.
The Web Security Guard portion of the toolbar does two things. First, if the website you are currently viewing has been rated by Crawler.com, you will see a green or red colored shield. If it has not been rated as yet, you will see a gray shield with a question mark. Secondly, you can click on the Web Security Guard button to see the safety rating for your currently viewed website. You may also click on the small drop down arrow to view further options.
Feel the need to clean off Internet Explorer’s leftovers? If you click on the small brush icon, you get the options to do just that. Among other choices, with this menu you can empty the recycle bin, dump your temporary Internet files, and removing cookies.
Lastly, you can view the available toolbar services by clicking on the red lettered Crawler Toolbar button and then click on Settings. This lets the user pick and choose among the basic toolbar settings, the service settings (for adding and removing toolbar options), and running updates to the Crawler Toolbar.
While this may not necessarily be the only toolbar in your Internet Explorer setup, it can make a nice addition. If nothing else, it is easy to setup and remove, and the price, or lack thereof, is ideal.

I was wondering if there is any way that I can get the crawler toolbar to my browser (Avant Browser).
At this time, the Crawler toolbar works on IE 6, 7, and 8 (to a degree, as 8 is still in Beta). It appears to work fine with Firefox 3.0. It seems that they are developing for the widespread web browsers, so I am not certain if they will release it for Avant.
This is somewhat disappointing because I use Avant as well, and I love it.
Thanks for the response!
