Posted on April 18, 2008 at 5:02 am
Google is familiar to most of us. As the years progress onward, this leading Internet search provider is branching out to develop more products. Now Google has created iGoogle for Internet users. Instead of settling for a boring start page when opening a browser, you can conveniently view some of your favorite items on one page.
iGoogle will allow you to personalize and organize your homepage with a few short steps. Adding multiple gadgets and tabs to your iGoogle homepage gives you the chance to view information at a glance.

Setting up iGoogle is a simple task to complete. When you first visit the iGoogle page, you’ll be prompted to create a preliminary start page. Selecting your favorite interests and themes will take only a few seconds. At the beginning stages there are just a few themes to choose from, but as you complete the initial setup process more themes will be revealed. The entire process for creating a perfect iGoogle homepage is a painless experience.

The ability to add multiple tabs is a lifesaver for Internet users that need a little organization in their life. Being able to easily organize your news, finance, and entertainment interests on one page is brilliant. I love the fact that I can easily monitor my incoming emails, breaking news reports, and calendar events with a single click. Previously, I had to log into multiple websites and had an extremely crowded desktop because of it.

Although there are many other websites that offer similar features, I am still partial to my iGoogle homepage. I have it conveniently setup with a home, news, and technology tab for easier viewing. For the short time that I have been using it, I’ve noticed that my productivity level has increased wonderfully. Staying organized with daily tasks is no longer a stressful problem for me. Now, I have my “to do” list, email messages , and the latest technology news within reach.

iGoogle is a user friendly tool that doesn’t require large amounts of time to figure out. Within a few minutes, you’ll have a full featured home page that was personalized just for you. With all of the gadgets available, users can have fun adding a special touch to their homepage. Watching your favorite YouTube videos or creating a personal shopping list has been made easier with iGoogle. Take a couple of minutes and look at what iGoogle has to offer. You might be happily surprised at what’s available.

Also there is a lot of scripts to further customize iGoogle on userscripts.org and on userstyles.org
Check out an iGoogle competitor, ClutterMe.com. You can type links directly into the screen.
Anatoly, could you throw in some links for those Userscripts? The only thing I hate about the site is that it’s not very easy to search for specific scripts! Thanks
Mark, ClutterMe is pretty nifty! Anyone else use a different home page, like NetVibes, etc? What’s the best in your opinion?
Akishore, I left a comment with links to script a few days ago. Since I still don’t see it, it was probably caught by your spam filter..
ClutterMe is an interesting idea - it would be nice to see other home pages letting the user to customize them in such a way.
