Google Code Projects - FaceBook gadget for your Google personalized homepage
Posted on July 1, 2007 at 8:04 pm
For all of those faithful people who use Google for search and FaceBook for staying in touch with friends and family, then you’ll like the new Google gadget that has been created for FaceBook. It still has not been officially released, but the beta FaceBook gadget allows you to view your latest updates, your friends latest updates, photos, and perform searches from within Google’s homepage.
Since this is still a beta version of the product, you will have to install it manually. In order to do this, first go to the link above and copy the link that points to the XML code for the gadget. Actually, it would be easier to copy it from here:

Next, go to the Google personalized homepage. Click on Add Stuff in the top right hand corner of the screen as shown below:

Next you need to click Add by URL, which is to the right of the Search Homepage Content button.

Now paste the link into the provided text box and click Add. The gadget will be added and you can click Back to homepage. You should now see the gadget installed and ready for login. Once you login, you’ll get four tabs: You, Friends, Photos, and Search. Clicking on some items opens up a browser window automatically while others load directly into the gadget window.

The gadget seems to be a little buggy at the moment with IE7, so you may have to wait a month of two before there are some updates and everything works fine.
