GetUSB – A heavenly site all about USB gadgets and devices

Wow, I just came across a very cool site called GetUSB that’s whole existence is about USB gadgets and devices! And not just your normal gadgets or devices either, but all kinds of crazy and cool stuff. If you’re one of those people who have lots and lots of free USB ports on your computer and don’t know what to do with them, then this site can quickly fill in those empty slots!

For example, why not buy your girlfriend an “I Love You” USB LED laptop light! For what reason would anyone use this? Who knows, maybe she travels a lot and has to type in the dark!

Ok, so maybe that might be kind of useless unless you have a woman who just loves receiving gifts even if they can’t be used! But there is a really cool gadget that I want called the Brando USB Solar Charger, which as it’s name suggests, can power USB devices by using power retained through solar energy. If there’s no light, the device can also be powered by AC power or by car power. You can use it to charge your mobile phone or run a USB device up to 9V. It also has 7 connecting charger heads, so you can be assured that most of your devices (cell phones, PDA’s, MP3 players, etc) can be run using the device. And best of all, it’s only $59! I don’t know if this thing really works well or not, but I guess you can read some reviews before buying it!

This site is really cool, it even has some semi-USB related stuff on there such as how to run WordPress off of a USB stick. This is a really great idea if you’re a big time blogger and you use WordPress. Basically, anywhere you go where you can’t connect to the Internet to work on your blog, you can simply plug in your USB drive and you’re good to go! It’s a good compliment to programs like Windows Live Writer, where you can write posts offline and then post them to your weblog later on. He’s got a very detailed step-by-step guide on how to install WordPress onto your USB drive, so looks like I’ll be trying it this weekend.
