5 Reasons to Buy the iPad

Posted on April 22, 2010 at 5:30 am

Many of us have fallen in love with the iPhone. For its millions of cult-followers, the iPhone is the be-all, do-all device, replacing our GPS, ebook reader and iPod, all in one easy-to-carry gadget. So why would we want an iPad? It doesn’t even fit in our pockets!

At first glance, it is easy to dismiss the iPad as just a bigger, bulkier version of our beloved iPhones. But, on closer inspection, there are several reasons to consider shelling out the money for it:

1. Fun Gadgets

Keyboard

Yes, that is a keyboard in the picture above. But it’s not just any keyboard—it has a port to plug the iPad into a power source or computer for syncing, and another port for plugging in headphones.

This keyboard dock makes the iPad a word processor, making it a lightweight alternative to carrying around our laptops for writing letters, term papers and long emails. There is also a Bluetooth version of the keyboard.

Besides the keyboard, there is a connector for hooking a digital camera straight into the iPad. This can turn the iPad into a walking picture portfolio. With its ultra-bright screen, the iPad could easily replace a traditional photographer’s or artist’s paper portfolio for job interviews.

More gadgets are sure to appear on the market in the coming months, especially with the 3G version of the iPad debuting May 7th.

2. Movies—for Hours

The iPad boasts 10 hours of battery life for playing movies. Captain Spock can accompany you anywhere and everywhere, from the subway to a long flight overseas—no charger required. At the moment, movies must be rented or bought through iTunes, but it is very likely video-on-demand services from Netflix and the like are soon to follow.

3. Games

games

Portable gaming has always occurred on tiny screens with miniscule text and mediocre graphics. The iPad’s 9.5 inch screen is double even the DSi XL’s 4.2 inch screens. Think about playing Fingerzilla on a screen this big—you won’t be able to miss when squishing lawyers.

4. Customizable Home Page—With Shortcuts

The home page of the iPad is completely customizable. You can change the background, decide which icons to display and create shortcuts to your favorite Web sites. This can give you an even faster surfing experience than we have with our iPhones.

5. It Does Everything our iPhone Does, Only Bigger

ibooks

Ok, so this is the reason we hesitate to buy it…but it’s also the reason we want it, too. The app store is a huge selling point for the iPhone, and that carries to the iPad. A nearly endless supply of ebooks, now completely readable, is a big advantage.

And, the new iBooks feature with pages that turn is very cool. Let us not forget, too, that the iPad still functions as an iPod, so our music is with us all the while we are surfing or reading.

Plus, the next version of Firmware for the iPhone and iPad will allow multi-tasking functionality. Soon we can listen to music, surf and email—all at the same time. So, if you are not totally convinced the iPad is for you, at least give it another look. It is much cooler than we initially thought.

What about all the resons not to buy a ipad? “It Does Everything our iPhone Does, Only Bigger”.. apart from voice calls, text messaging, take photos, record videos, edit recorded videos and use EDGE. ipad is like a mix of a laptop and a iphone only missing some of the most vital parts. like multi tasking from computers and a camera from the iphone.

Gina i would recomend going down to youre local apple store and trying out the iphone for youre self. i personaly prefer the iphone because of the large easy to use touch screen and all of the games you can download on the go.
