Use Fmail to access your Gmail from FaceBook

It seems with the current addiction to FaceBook, it’s appropriate to write about how you can integrate even MORE services into it, so that you never have to leave your FaceBook account. I’m not that addicted (yet), but if you are and you want to be able to check your Google email (Gmail) from within FaceBook, you can use a nifty little application called Fmail.

This is the first release of the application, so you might run into a few bugs and the interface is not completely AJAX driven yet. Also, the future releases will integrate the Gchat application also, so you’ll not only be able to check your email in FaceBook, but chat with anyone else using the Gmail application directly from FaceBook! Pretty neat!

I just tried it out and I have to say that I was very impressed with the quality of the application, considering it’s version 1.0! The interface looks great and it has most of the features that are in Gmail, including Archiving, Reporting as Spam, Starring, and easy viewing of all of your contacts. You can also view all of your stored chats and search all of your emails quickly and easily!

Of course, you can also compose a new email from within the application! The only issue that I noticed when composing was that there is no auto suggestion feature when you start typing in a contact name. I’m sure in the next version we can expect that feature.

Overall, a very cool app that really works well! Again, I was not expecting it to work so quickly and easily.

I don’t understand why anyone would go to Facebook and then check email…

    Ajay,

I don’t think I’ll ever use this app either, but apparently there are lots of people who are completely addicted to FaceBook and basically never log out of the service! This is definitely only for someone who spends an enormous amount of time on FaceBook!
