Privnote – Send emails that self-destruct
Posted on September 23, 2008 at 5:28 am
Have you ever wanted to send a private note that would self-destruct? Knowing that you could send your most intimate thoughts to that special someone without risking prying eyes is an absolute bonus. It would be great if your private note could only be read once. Others won’t have access to your private thoughts unless you want them to. On the Internet, you can find almost any application or web based service to suit your needs. Previously I had written about a service called BigString, a free service to send self-destructing and recallable emails.
Privnote is a handy little web application that causes a note to self destruct after one use. Access the website, type your desired note, and then send it to someone. Sending email messages is a common form of communication, but spicing it up a bit with some secret agent features is much better. Even if you’re not a super spy, you can still pretend to be one for a quick moment with this service.
Once you’ve arrived at the homepage, type your note in the available post it space. After this has been done, select the box to be notified when the note is read. It will automatically prompt you to enter your email address for tracking purposes. Make sure that you also type a subject heading next to the note reference section. When you’ve received the notification that your Privnote has been read, it will have this subject line for easier identification.
Copy and paste the provided URL into a brand new email message. Send the email to your intended party and they’ll have the chance to open the link to read the contents of the Privnote. Immediately after your note has been read, it will be deleted from the server. Users won’t be able to go back at a later time to review the details of this private note. They’ll only have one shot to retrieve the necessary information from your sent Privnote. If the details in the note are extremely important, then it should be copied and saved to another location.
The makers of Privnote claim that all information is totally secure and encrypted. Despite these statements, sending financial data or extremely incriminating information via this service is not suggested. However, using Privnote to have some fun with friends and family members is highly recommended. Unlike some applications, there’s no setup required to start using it.
Just simply think of what you’d like to write, copy the link, and then email the link to whoever you choose. The next time you want to feel like a super spy, consider giving Privnote a try. Also, you can check out a previous post on how to send secure email for free.
