ScrnShots - Free screen capture software

Have you ever found yourself browsing the web and came across something you’d like to capture? There are numerous web tools that will let you clip a photo from the web and save it to your own personal collection. Depending on the service or application you choose, some of these same tools will also allow you to upload these captured photos for others to view and enjoy.

ScrnShots is a simple web tool that gives you the chance to capture a web image or page and embed it into websites or blogs. In order to get started, just simply download the application to your computer. Although there is a desktop version of ScrnShots, it can only work on a Mac OS X or Windows XP computer system. If you currently have Windows Vista, Scrnshots doesn’t work properly. It will cause your screenshots to have a washed out or faded appearance.

Being able to quickly upload a captured web image onto ScrnShots servers is painless. It only takes a few seconds to do so. Type in a few tags to describe the image, a short description with details, and even the website URL of where you found it. Once you have successfully captured and uploaded the screenshot, there will be several available embed codes for you to choose from. You will then be able to embed the links into a website, blog, or social network page. The links will let your screenshots be viewed in thumbnail, medium sized, or full screen modes.

The entire ScrnShots website is very easy to maneuver through and it’s well designed. Capturing images can be done with a few simple steps. The desktop application runs quietly behind the scenes and hides in your taskbar. You’ll hardly notice that it is there until you need it. Users can capture and share their favorite media with anyone that wants to take a peek. The overall operation of ScrnShots is so simple and very appealing to those that want a light tool for saving screen images.

ScrnShots is one of the easiest ways of introducing yourself to the world of screen capturing. The fact that it makes capturing and sharing screen images so simple is one of the most appealing things about this application. As soon as you start the process, it’s over. Hopefully, the desktop application will roll out to other operating systems real soon. If you’re looking for an application for occasional screen capturing, then consider signing up for a free account on Scrnshots.

Thanks for the post, this looks very interesting. I’ve been using mwsnap for my screenshot needs. But I like the idea of an easy upload. But sometimes I do need to keep the images local, can you save them local from the desktop app?

It is a great app, but even with the desktop version I wasn’t able to save my images locally. It just allowed me to upload images from my computer and take new scrnshots when necessary. Hopefully, that will change in the future. :)

It is quite similar to Snagit. But it enhance the web sharing function. If you would like to record screen to video to share with your friends, DemoCreator could be nice.
