Periodic Table of the Internet - A cool list of popular web sites
Posted on August 3, 2007 at 2:44 pm
I really think that the Periodic Table of the Internet is a very creative way to browse some of the most popular web sites out there on the net. Just like the real periodic table for the elements, this table lists a bunch of web sites grouped together with similar “properties”. Of course, a periodic table cannot be complete unless it has the atomic mass of the element and so this table uses the rank of the web page as it’s “mass”.
To browse the sites, you can simply click on the “element”. The groups of elements are broken down into Search Engines, Internet Tools, Site Ranking, Aggregators, Webcomics, Productivity, Get stuff, Operating systems, Misc, Blogs, Social Networking, Podcasts, Videos, and News.
Someone obviously spent a lot of time making this and I found it to be a pretty neat idea, so hope it proves useful to someone else. Definitely fun to send to a science or chemistry friend, I’m sure they will appreciate it!
