LaserAge: Retro Space Shooting Game!

Posted on August 31, 2008 at 5:18 am

From www.ingava.com comes a free casual shooter game called LaserAge. Folks who got to play Space Invaders, Galaga, Galaxian and other classic space shooting games will feel right at home with this shooter. The graphics here is futuristic, set in space with a blue planet in the background. PCs with lower specs will not need to worry since this requires only a 24bit color video card – this means even most laptops with it’s built in video card can handle the game. The music is techno MIDIsh but provides enough variation to not bore you to sleep. If you are itching to shoot some aliens into space, it’s time for you now to try LaserAge.

Get the game’s installer from “nofollow”>www.ingava.com then open it to install in your Windows PC. You should see a self extracting prompt like the one below:

After installing you can open the HTML help file to get you introduced to the game:

As you can see from the one page HTML help file, there is really nothing much to say about the game – which is good – we just want to shoot some alien ships anyway!

To play the game, click the LaserAge program from your Program’s file under the Ingava.com folder. Your ship will be located on the lower part of the screen while the enemies are on the upper part. To control the game, you will need to move it with your mouse. For folks used to playing casual click and shoot games, this will come natural to them. I played a lot of shooter games played with a keyboard – I was a little surprised to find a game’s movement controlled by mouse and not a keyboard.

Firing at the enemies is done by left clicking the mouse. Carpal tunnel injured folks are advised not to play too much of this game – this is a click-to-kill galore type of game!

Pausing the game is done by a simple right click, to resume you will need to left-click the ship. This was a little strange for me at first but I guess it was done by developers to recalibrate your mouse’s pointer to the position of the ship upon resuming the game.

The game play was surprisingly exciting for a freeware. Although it is a casual game, the levels easily get to a more number of enemies as you progress. There are cases when you are swarmed by the enemies’ ships and missiles if you are not fast enough to shoot them as they come.

The variety of alien enemies is good – you will not be bored with a singular type of enemy. They will taunt at you and send you lots of projectiles. They will come in waves and the last wave will be the boss for that level. Do not be surprised to lose after a few tries at the first level.

Overall, LaserAge is a good retro shooting game. The exciting levels and the variety of enemies are well constructed to keep you amused for hours. The best thing about LaserAge is that it is free – it doesn’t come with the guilt you get after downloading a cracked game from bit torrent!

Let’s go shoot some aliens! Post your highest score here on the comments. Make sure to subscribe to the RSS feeds if you like this article.

The game sounds interesting but the website you point to is just a glorified search engine.

the game, after installing it really has a link to http://www.ingava.com ( I tried the installer from download.com)
they might be having some domain issues or probably they are promoting that little search engine.
