50 Free iPod Touch and iPhone Games – Part 2

Posted on March 24, 2010 at 5:45 am

This article is part 2 in the series 50 Free iPod Touch and iPhone Games. Here, we will review the next 10 games, which will have you doing everything from avoiding traffic, to stacking a cheeseburger as high as you can.

Traffic Rush

Sometimes, driving our own cars in traffic can be stressful enough. With Traffic Rush, you must control several cars on the screen, helping the drivers avoid any potential car accidents.

This game can provide a couple hours of fun for the person who enjoys puzzle games, and a couple hours of “virtual” road rage for the player who likes to get places in a hurry.

Lux Touch

Risk, the board game of world domination… cannot be played while sitting on a 10 hour flight to your favorite destination. However, Lux Touch, the iPod Touch game of strategy, risk, and world conquest most certainly can.

This game has quite a few maps, countries, and territories to choose from, meaning, that you may be able to conquer the “actual” destination you are flying to, before your flight lands.

Scoops

This game is very simple, and very awesome. Scoops, by Nimblebit, is a food themed game, that tests your ice cream stacking abilities. It doesn’t require the extreme precision of Operation, but does require a steady hand and good balance.

Scoops also has some sweet graphics, adding a bit more appeal to the overall gameplay. Also includes other foods, such as cheeseburgers.

Tic Tac Toe Free

Looking for a quick way to settle a disagreement, but Rock, Paper, Scissors is getting a bit old? Why not settle it over a quick game of Tic Tac Toe Free, which relies on at least some skill, instead of sheer luck.

But beware, a skilled Tic Tac Toe opponent may lead you into a series of “cat games,” perhaps one of the most frustrating gameplay situations. X/O the middle first, and put your opponent down quickly. With that chalkboard like interface, be glad that this game doesn’t have real life sound effects.

Chalkboard Stunts

While we’re on the whole “chalkboard theme,” it’s only fair that we mention this game as well. Chalkboard Stunts is a tilt game, based mainly on physics. Navigate the 4 wheeler through obstacles, off ramps, loops, and more. A recommended game to play during that boring physics class, with a funner chalkboard to watch.

iSlots

iSlots is a slot machine app, that is available completely free. Perhaps the only slot machine in the world, that is not out to take your money. The realistic interface has better graphics than some of the online casinos out there.

Dungeon Quest

It’s hard not to like ancient, avatar based, RPG games like Dungeon Quest. For being completely free, this game has some great features. Collect gold and upgrade your weapons, XP, and more.

Notably, this game also has several game modes to choose from, allowing you to waste anywhere from 10 minutes, to a couple hours of your time. Go medievil on someone with Dungeon Quest.

UNO

UNO just may be the best card game ever invented, that is not played on a standard deck.

Doodle Kart Lite

Apparently simple, canvas like UIs are popular among app developers. It’s all good, as long as the game is still fun to play. Doodle Kart Lite may remind you of Mario Kart, as you can attack other drivers  by using a wide variety of the games featured weapons.

Idle Hands

For people who enjoy challenging, word based games, Idle Hands is the ultimate iPod Touch typing challenge. Although it has a very basic concept, type the sentence as fast as you can, many people have reviewed this app as being quite decent.

Having some troubles getting used to texting with your iPhone’s touch screen? An hour with this app is like taking an iPhone typing class.
