5 techie Halloween props that’ll scare the crap out of everyone

I’ve gotten pretty tired of the same ol Halloween decorations with little paper or plastic ghosts on front people’s lawn or the stuffed skeletons laying around the front entrance to a house. I guess most people like to have fun during Halloween, but I personally find it more fun to scare the crap out of someone before giving them candy!

If you’re like me, you’ve probably done things like pretend to be the dead skeleton I mentioned above laying on the ground and when someone comes up to the door, suddenly jump up and scream. That’s always a lot of fun. However, if you really have the time and patience, you can setup some pretty sophisticated tech-upped Halloween gigs that’ll really make your house stand out from the rest.

After a few searches on the Internet, here’s my wish list of stuff I would like to see during my trip to houses on Halloween:

1. The Crate Beast – Create a remote-controlled create that looks like it holds some kind of giant vicious animal that makes ominous clawing and snarling noises along with the entire crate rattling as the beast tries to get out.

2. Popup Pumpkin – Do you think anyone would suspect your garbage can to be a source of fear? Well certaninly not if it’s full of trash, but if it suddenly pops open and a monster’s head pops up with out-reaching arms, you’ll probably get some really great videos of people screaming.

3. Skull Fountain with blood – Forget those pretty little fountains with rocks and flowers in them, make your own fountain full of skulls and fake blood. It’s cheap, gross and great for Halloween!

4. Talking Gargoyles – Buy a gargoyle, put in some flickering eyes, have it breathe smoke, and make it talk whenever someone passes by! Now we’re talking! If you don’t feel like making all those modifications, buy a gargoyle and just have it talk!

5. EZ Up Light Show – If all this seems like too much work, you can check out something pretty neat from Brookstone that creates a ghost and goblin light show on your house. It can project up to 75 feet away and you can turn it on with the flip of a switch. So when someone is coming up to the house, switch it on and watch the surprise!

I love decorating for Halloween – it really gives you the opportunity to be different and unique with how you display things around the house. Plus – it’s fun scaring the neighbors! there are a few decorating contests that I enter each year – one is by the compnay that makes those inflatables – they have really good prizes!
