NexusFile - Fast Windows File Manager

Looking for an alternative Windows file manager? Windows Explorer is the default file manager that comes with the Windows operating system, but it lacks innovative features that can make your file and folder management more effective.
If you search around the Internet, there are a lot of alternatives to Windows Explorer that let you complete more tasks from a single interface, thus increasing work productivity. One good example of a feature-packed, fast Windows file manager is NexusFile.
NexusFile is a free windows file manager created by a Korean developer that has a cool-looking interface. Instead of using boring beige / white as its default background, it uses black. It also intelligently color codes your files and folders with customizable color schemes.
NexusFile has a familiar, Explorer-like interface with dual, same sized panes for you to work on your files and folders. If you are familiar with Windows Explorer’s interface, NexusFile will get you going in no time.
NexusFile Features
-
Contains all the basic functions of Windows Explorer - all the usual copy, cut, move, paste, change attributes, etc. are intact.
-
Powerful, extended shortcut support - most of the menu options have a shortcut that is clearly viewable on the menu bar. For example, you can open Windows Control Panel with Alt + S + C.
- Extra folder and file management tool to help you be more productive:
-
-
Favorite folders for quick folder access.
-
5 working folders that you can change quickly with a left and right mouse click.
-
Tabbed support - create extra tabs for a bigger working space.
-
Smart address bar that lets you move between previous and next folder with ease.
-

-
Advanced Rename function with powerful renaming options.

-
Archive / file compression support in multiple formats - .zip, .ace, .rar, etc. with password support.
-
Built in, simple FTP client allows you to directly download or upload files.
-
Folder comparison tool to differentiate contents between two folders.
-
Disk Cleanup tool to clear unused/junk files and folders from your computer.
-
Quick History allows you to get back to any previously opened folder much faster.
-
Add Comment function allows you to mark specific files and folders with a meaningful note that is viewable on the status bar.
-
Folder tree creator lets you view your folder hierarchy in a snap.

-
Built in file splitter and joiner.
-
File shredding function for secure deletion of private, sensitive files and folders.
-
Function keys usage - NexusFile makes full use of your idle function keys (F1, F2, …) and you can even configure them to complete specific file management tasks.
-
Multi language support.
-
Skinnable interface.
After using NexusFile for a while, I found that completing file management tasks such as copying / moving files between multiple folders were far much easier than doing it with Windows Explorer. Other useful, built-in functions such as the compression tool, FTP client and quick history are also NexusFile strong points. I definitely recommend NexusFile for those who are looking for an excellent, free Windows file manager. Download NexusFile today!

The basic problem with custom software applications is that they never are designed for the average user. MS File Manager (Explorer) may be “long-in-the-tooth”, but it works for the average user.
NexusFile may have a lot of good features, but I can’t get past the black background with gray and red fonts. It take a lot of effort to change the the colors to something that is easier to read.
I’ll wait until the creator of this application recognizes that he needs to make this easy to read. Most PC’s have thousands of files on their hard drives.
Ack, this is some terrible UI design, and that goes beyond the black background.

Well thanks for the blazing insight Captain Obvious, but you failed to recognize how customizable this application is.
I’ve been playing around with this for a couple of hours and love it already. The default skin looks high tech; red on black is extremely easy to read. Some very welcome interface additions (like the built-in renamer) and subtle usability touches has this growing on me. Takes some getting used to, but rather addictive. Try it out.
The interface is hideous. Changing the colors is difficult in that you have to select each facet individually and pick a color. And even after that effort the title bars are still black. Red on black is more difficult to read than black on white.
To those who don’t like default interface.
1. View -> Skin. Change it to Classic
2. Tools -> Option -> Color. Import white1 / white2 as per your preference.
You can also set default right click menu to Emplorer menu
It is fast and feature rich. So you’ll love it.
Though I agree default view should be the one use is comfortable with, else they’ll form an initial block even before trying the s/w.
