VLC is way better than Windows Media Player. I have tried and was somewhat impressed with are GOM Player. I found the article very interesting Thanks!

I agree it’s one of the worst looking interfaces around, but the fact it play everything with no CODEC issues really makes up for it in my book.

I dont really like VLC.
It’s interface is dreadfull and video quality is very much average.
I used to use KMPlayer till now (which too supports all commonly used format out of the box), but recently switched to NeuView media player due to superior palyback quality.

Other players I have tried and was somewhat impressed with are GOM Player and Crystal Player (awesome feature and great functionality but lots of codec problems).

GOM Player is also good, but since I had a few codec problems with it, I switched to VLC and there is no turning back!
