Turn off all Windows Sounds while Watching a Movie or Listening to Music

It’s so annoying when you’re watching a movie and all of a sudden your anti-virus program sounds its VPS update or your Outlook gives off its New Mail Notification. It’s a moment breaker especially when you’re about to cry or the movie has reached its climax scene. You can turn-off several Windows-based sounds by accessing their audio program settings in the Control Panel.
However, this practice is not practical particularly if you don’t have permission to a computer’s Control Panel. And muting your computer will just turn off all audio settings including your media player.
The SoundOff software can turn-off all your Windows sounds in just two clicks. You don’t have to access your PC’s Control Panel because this program is placed right on your taskbar making the muting of all Windows-based applications easier and faster.
SoundOff can also be applied when you don’t want to be disturbed while you’re listening to music or having a video conversation via Skype.
You can download SoundOff for free at
http://www.sdsoftware.org/default.asp?id=10794
Click the icon (as shown below) to begin.
Save the setup file and wait for the download to finish.
After the download is done, open the installer.
In the Security Warning window, click the Run button to proceed with the installation.
When the setup is complete, check Launch the program and click the Finish button. This will start SoundOff.
SoundOff does not have the usual interface. You will know that it’s running when you will see its icon in your traybar.
To turn off all Windows-based sounds, click the program’s icon on the traybar and select Turn Sounds Off.
The traybar icon will then be marked with the “Sound is Off” sign.
If you wish to confirm whether the program has really turned off all Windows-based sounds, go to your Control Panel, click Sound, and select the Sounds tab. You will see here that all New Mail and Fax Notifications, Program Error, Virus Update, Window Explorer, iTunes, Windows Speech Recognition, Windows Photo Gallery, and other applications’ sounds were turned off. The Sound Scheme has also synced with SoundOff’s.
To access and change some of SoundOff’s sound schemes and options, just click its icon on your computer’s taskbar and select the corresponding menu.
By default, SoundOff is automatically launched every time you turn on your PC. If you disabled this action, you can run the program by accessing it at C:\Program Files\Sound Doctrine\SoundOff. This is the software’s default location.
