I had once used snarfer, it was pretty good app actually, but I considered to turn to Google reader bcoz it's simplicity... And the best thing is, I don't need to install any app to my desktop. I've got a Google Reader tab open in my browser full-time (and I rarely close my browser except for restarts), and it's not exactly a hassle!
