CodySafe – Best Portable Application Launcher

Previously, I wrote about PortableApps, a free suite of tools for your USB flash drive that lets you run portable apps on any PC. PortableApps was nice because it created a complete Start Menu type of interface to manage all your apps, documents, etc.
I’ve personally used PortableApps for the last couple of years until I learned about CodySafe, another portable app launcher and manager.
CodySafe gives you a similar ability to manage all your portable apps, but it also includes a couple of other nice features that PortableApps does not have.
Even though PortableApps has a nice interface, CodySafe also has a sleek interface and one that I liked better overall. It’s clean and has a more Aero-style look that goes better with Vista and Windows 7.
Here are some of the major features of CodySafe and why you might want to try it out:
1. Detect and prevent AutoRun virus infections
2. Automatic application ranking based on frequency usage
3. Ability to group applications for better organization
4. Ability to add portable apps from PortableApps.com or other sites, even applications that are not made to be portable, such as Skype.
5. Ability to control the launching of portable applications
Other features that other portable app suites don’t have include virus protection. ViruSense will detect and prevent virus infections on your USB flash drive. So before someone decides to copy virus-laden junk to your USB stick, it will be caught by CodySafe. It does this by detecting any changes to the Autorun.inf file.
Also, it includes a feature called Drive Doctor that will scan your portable drive for errors. If anything is found, it will fix the errors. It can even locate bad sectors and try to recover data.
Overall, if you make your USB stick into something more useful than a place to dump files, be sure to check out CodySafe. It’s one of the better portable app suites out there and it has a lot to offer. Enjoy!

I would also recommend CodySafe as it is perfectly compatiable with all PortableApps programs too, so you can get the best of both worlds. It’s the best portable apps manager.
