Perform advanced Google searches using Power Search Tool

Wow! Here’s a free Windows & Mac utility called Power Search Tool that actually proves to be very useful for day to day searching. It’s not often that I find a program that increases my productivity almost immediately and makes my life much easier at the same time! Using Power Search Tool, you can target or refine your search so that you get fewer higher quality results rather than pages of irrelevant material.
Using the toolbar, which is free and runs on Windows and Mac and on both Internet Explorer and Firefox, you can perform a standard Google search or target your search by File Type, occurrence of term in title, page, etc, time period of desired results, similar pages, whether the content is free to use, etc. All of these searches are possible with Google, however, you have to manually type in extra filter parameters when performing the search. For example, if you go to Google.com and type in “resume filetype:doc”, you’ll only get results that are Microsoft Word documents that have word “resume” within their text.
Using this toolbar, anyone can perform these advanced searches without having to know all of the technical jargon to get the desired results! There are also many other features of the toolbar, such as word definition lookup, bible passages search, and split search, whereby you can search multiple search engines at once and compare the results. Now it’s easy to get the results of your search from Google, Yahoo, Ask and Windows Live all at once!

It also has target searches for images and videos also. For example, you can perform an image search for JPG, GIF, or PNG individually, or by size (small, medium, large), or by the coloration (black and white, grayscale, full color).

However, with it’s advanced video search capabilities, that’s where the real fun begins for Power Search Tool. You can find just about any video you want online using this search tool for free. When searching for a video, you can search by genre, language, duration and price! You can also sort the results by rating, views, title or date.

You can also watch the videos directly in the results pages! There is no spyware associated with the toolbar (don’t worry, I installed). Also, I performed a normal search in Google and using the toolbar and compared the results to make sure the standard search was the same.
Other search features include the ability to search news, blogs, books, groups, patents, and products. You can also type in any address and click on the earth icon to get the Google map of the location. Lastly, you can zoom in and out using the magnifier icon on the right side of the toolbar!
Overall, a very handy and useful toolbar that basically takes the advanced search features of Google and makes an intuitive interface for them to be used. Definitely worth checking out!
