I can't think of an easy way to mask the size of the card, but I'm assuming it's the HC (high capacity) designation that is probably causing the problem rather than the actual size. But, I did see small SD cards at CompUSA last weekend, so keep looking! There are probably smaller cards on ebay, if nothing else.

I am using SD cards in a Palm T5 PDA. The PDA will not accept cards larger than 1G. 1G cards are no longer readily available. Is there a way to format a 2G card to appear as a 1G card? I tried all the sector copying and partition creating tricks I can think of.

I have a Micro SD card that has my sounds, my images, my ringtones, and my sounds folders for my Samsung SCH-R451C cell phone. The SD Card has been formatted and all of the folders are accessible on my phone except the my sounds folder. The SD card was formatted from my phone, but the one folder still is not recognized on my phone.

What could be the problem and do I need to reformat the card? I don't want to lose all of my media on the card.

Help if you can. =-]

Jayney - are you using a USB card reader? Trying to format the card while it is in your camera and connected to your computer is known not to work. Make sure the card's write protection is also off (this is the little notch on the left).

Hi, can you tell me a program to measure the speed at which my SD card is reading and writing to memory? I want to test and see if my SDHC card actually performs at the advertised speed of 30 MB/s. Thanks!

The quick format is OK to use, but it is still a good idea to use the full format once in awhile to prevent possible corrupt files and such. It all depends on just how much you're deleting and taking new pictures. For a card you use all day everyday, a full format every couple of weeks is a good idea. If you are just shooting a few pictures here and there, once a month or so is probably just fine.

Is there any problem with doing a quick format? Will it reduce the speed of the memory card or cause any other kind of problem? I'd rather have the option of being able to recover photos just in case I format pictures I didn't mean too...thanks!
