Delete duplicate files on your computer

Downloading and installing programs onto your computer’s hard drive can take up an enormous amount of space. Before you even realize it, you won’t have any more storage left for other applications. One of the cheapest and easiest ways to solve this issue is to get rid of the files that are overloading your computer system.

Many of the programs you download come fully equipped with an uninstaller, but sometimes these uninstallers don’t delete all of the unnecessary files that are added. Duplicate files are spread throughout every inch of your computer’s hard drive taking up valuable space that can be used for something else.

Earlier, I wrote about Duplicate Cleaner, a free program to delete duplicate files and also a list of three programs to find and remove duplicate files, one of which is Easy Duplicate Finder. In this article, I go more in-depth on the features of this program.

Easy Duplicate Finder will search through every crevice of your computer’s hard drive for multiple copies of a file. Although you may not normally create duplicate files on your computer, it can sometimes mistakenly happen when moving files from one location to another.

Instead of deleting these files, they are forgotten and begin to consume your storage space. Adding additional hard drive space to increase your storage limits is a useful idea, but that would require more money to be spent.

There’s no cost to use Easy Duplicate Finder and it saves some valuable storage that can be used for more important files. To get started, just download the application from its homepage and install it on your computer system. In three simple steps, Easy Duplicate Finder will begin analyzing your hard drive for duplicate files taking up space.

The first step requires you to select the appropriate area to begin searching. Step two gives you a chance to view each duplicated file on your hard drive before making any final changes. When you’re ready to make a decision about the found duplicates, you can choose one of several options. Rename them, move them to another folder, or totally erase them from your computer system.

One of the best benefits of using this program is that it will let you protect certain files before you make any irreversible changes. If you’re looking for a quick way to free up some of your hard drive space, then consider giving Easy Duplicate Finder a try.

Instead of only uninstalling a program, search for leftover files that can be removed. Before you realize it, you’ll have more room to download and install multiple programs to use on your computer.

Although Easy Duplicate Finder is a good program to use, it still has a quirk that needs to be worked out. For some reason, it can’t identify the difference between the original file and the actual duplicate. However, the overall process was easy to navigate through and the scanning won’t take very long. This is a useful tool. Another good way to prevent unwanted files is to use a good uninstaller like Your Uninstaller. It’s will scan registry for unnecessary key, remove empty folders of uninstalled program and scan for other files to remove.

@Phao Loo – Thanks for the tip. I agree that a good uninstaller can really free up a lot of space and also speed up a computer too! I have heard that Revo Uninstaller is also a great uninstaller.

I don’t install unnecessary programs anymore. I had the problems with duplicate files before, but now I try to not install a lot of programs. Then the storange doesn’t run out of space. Too sad I didn’t know about this a couple of years ago.
