Convert Windows XP Start Menu into Windows Vista style using Vista Start Menu Emulator

Still running Windows XP? Well if you’re not interested in converting your entire Windows XP operating system into Windows Vista using a program like Vista Transformation Pack, you can use another small program to simply emulate the Windows Vista Start Menu on Windows XP.
The Vista Start Menu Emulator tries to take the normal Windows XP style Start Menu and makes it into the cool looking Aero version you see in Windows Vista.
It not only tries to emulate the Windows Vista style in terms of looks, but also in terms of functionality. It includes a search box at the bottom whereby you can quickly launch applications on your computer and it also loads up start folder items in the same pane rather than having them expand out as it does in Windows XP.
The program was released at the beginning of the year and it seems like a lot of people had some major issues with it since it was in beta. It was apparently very unstable and crashed all the time. However, it’s now in it’s third and final release and seems to have been heavily revamped and fixed up.
You can also configure a good number of properties for your Vista style Start Menu, including the language, pinned programs, search options, miniapps, and skin.
So if you’re stuck on Windows XP or simply don’t want to upgrade yet, try this nitfty little program out and see how you like it. If you’re looking for a quick way to launch applications in Windows and don’t really care about the looks, you can try out a very good freeware application called Launchy.
