Check Email for Easily Misinterpreted Phrases

We all have moments where we wish we could retrieve an email message after sending it. Either we type something in an emotional fury, then regret it later, or we re-read an already-sent message and realize possible misinterpretations. In either case, sender’s remorse is all too common.
ToneCheck is a service designed to reduce the amount of possibly inflammatory language used in emails. Right now, the service only works with modern versions of Micrsoft Outlook.
ToneCheck is still in Beta testing, so for now, it is a free download. Once downloaded, it integrates seamlessly with Outlook, and works along side spell check to point out potentially regrettable words and phrases. Click the Run ToneCheck icon within Outlook to use the service.
Sentences that are too happy or too angry appear in a list. You may choose to ignore the sentence or modify it.
When you choose to modify a sentence, a panel opens where you may type a new sentence and tone check it again. Once the sentence is revised, click Accept to continue.
For a software still in Beta, ToneCheck works very well. It did not catch every potentially inflammatory phrase we tried, but it captured the majority. ToneCheck can definitely help reduce the amount of email snafus for the average email sender.
