In Windows 7, this is no longer necessary. Now with Jumplists, you can create your own custom jumplist that has all the programs that you want on it.

Friends, this is the *Free* Launch Bar, not Windows’ Quick Launch Bar, which it replaces. They are entirely different animals. It’s great! I’ve been using it for a couple of years and couldn’t get along without it.

I also find the Quick launch bar very handy and use it all the time. I have gotten so use to it that it seems like such a pain to go through the start menu now and since I don’t like cluttering my desktop with short cuts quick launch bar proves to be very useful.

Really! Wow, I love the quick launch bar! It’s better than desktop shortcuts and easier than going into the Start Menu. Why don’t you find it useful?

Honestly, I feel that the quick launch bar is completely useless for me. It just hampers productivity, atleast for me, since it ends up occupying a lot of the taskbar space..
