Boy, the days of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint being the only office productivity software applications out there are pretty much over. Heck, now there are not only MORE office applications out there that you can choose from, they are also web-based and open source, which means they’ll work with Microsoft Office and other office programs such as Google Docs and Spreadsheets, IBM Lotus Symphony, or ThinkFree.
Zoho is probably the best online office suite I have ever used. It includes not only the basics such as an online word processor, an online spreadsheet application, and an online presentation tool, but also has a ridiculous number of other tools such as a CRM app, web conferencing, database application, a full-featured wiki, online note taker, group chat, online database reporting with SQL, an online planner, and online project management software.
It would take a very long time to go through all of the features of this extensive online suite of tools, but it can basically take care of any task you through at it. The Zoho DB & Reports feature has been getting a lot of attention lately for it’s ability to create, edit, and access databases from anywhere along with the ability to import spreadsheets and CSV files to an online database. Not only that, but the reporting features are amazing with the ability to create charts, pivot tables, and other complex reports by simply dragging and dropping.
Zoho also integrates with most of the Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Using the Zoho Office plugin, for example, you can create, edit, and save your documents and spreadsheets directly to Zoho from within Excel or Word. You can also do it the other way around by opening Zoho documents from within Excel or Word. This enables you to work online or offline from anywhere without ever having to visit the Zoho web site!
The Outlook plugin will synchronize your Outlook or Zoho contacts, tasks and calendar automatically. If that’s not enough, there is also a Zoho FaceBook plugin that allows you to share your documents with others on FaceBook. Plus, if you have an iPhone, you can use the iZoho web site to view your docs and spreadsheets easily on your iPhone!
And it just doesn’t stop! There are a few Zoho utilities that make the service even better such as 24×7 monitoring service, online polls, Zoho Viewer (view and share documents online), and Zoho Challenge, an easy way to evaluate candidates or employees.
Overall, a very cool online office productivity suite that is free, easy to use, and integrates wonderfully with Microsoft Office! Check it out.
