YourStreet YourStreet is basically a Google mashup that allows you to read news, blogs, articles, and conversations on a map! Their advanced algorithm indexes thousands of articles a day and analyzes the articles to find out specific locations in the body of the text. And just like a Google map, you can zoom in and zoom out to see articles from different parts of the city. Once you type in your address, you’ll see three types of “buttons” appear on the map: News (blue), Conversations (green), and Neighbors (Orange). I was quite impressed with some of the news because it included stories like the fact that an 18-wheeler had broken down 2 days earlier and caused all kinds of traffic for hours, something that was not in the local TV news. YourStreet also has a customization and social networking aspect to it as you can create a profile and as others join the service, they will show up as neighbors (if they live close to you).
