Will this game run on my computer? CanYouRunIt will tell you

If you’re a big time gamer or like to play games on your PC sometimes, then you might want to check out CanYouRunIt.com before buying your next game. The way it works is that you pick a game and the website will inspect your computer’s hardware configuration and compare it the the system requirements of the particular game.
CanYouRunIt is quick and will give you a full summary and detailed analysis of your computer’s hardware system. Once it compares that to the minimum requirements of the game, it will determine whether your system can handle it or not.
If not, it will also give you links to solutions in order to meet the necessary requirements. So if your graphics card is not up to snuff, CanYouRunIt will let you know that you need to upgrade it.
The website installs a small ActiveX or Java based component the first time you run the service, which can easily be deleted after you run it by going to Add/Remove programs.
Only hardware information is collected by the ActiveX control, such as CPU, CPU speed, OS version, RAM, Video Card, Sound Card, DirectX version, etc, no personal information.
The service has over 400 games in their database, so you can probably find what you are looking for. Also, new games are always being added to the database. The service works with IE, Firefox and Netscape. It also will run on Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, and Vista.
The report generated by the program is very detailed and it also useful if you simply want to know all of the information about your hardware in a nice graphical format.
As you can see my PC failed the test for running Madden NFL 2008! That sucks! The service tells me it’s because of my video card and even gives me the exact element that my video card does not support. Time to upgrade!
