If you have not already visited Joost, it’s a cool streaming video site where you can watch TV shows and other videos on your computer for free. They have more than 15,000 shows currently in their database and more are added daily. A couple of featured shows on Joost include the Late Show with David Letterman, Larry King Live, Hogan Knows Best, Clock Stoppers, and Ren & Stimpy.

There are also over 250+ channels that you can choose from including Adult Swim, Paramount Pictures, Comedy Central, and National Geographic. It’s basically a great way of watching all of your favorite online videos in one central place rather than having to visit 10 different sites.

In order to start watching videos, you have to download the Joost media player. It works on both Windows and Mac. The quality of the videos are excellent and the load times are extremely fast, so you never see the video freeze up or slow down while watching.

Other nice features of Joost include the ability to quickly skip around in a show using the virtual controller or skip to different shows quickly. I have used Miro media player also to watch videos, but I like Joost more because it allows me to skip to different parts of a video whereas Miro does not.

The cool thing about Joost is that you can run it full screen or run it in Window mode while doing other stuff. Find shows and new videos is super easy as you can either explore by genre along the left side menu or perform a search.

The movies you’ll find on Joost are obviously not going to be recent releases or anything like that, but they have a good number of classics, etc. The best channels I’ve seen include the Cartoon Network, which has a large sampling of cartoons and shows.

There definitely is a lot of content on Joost, but it’s definitely not a complete one-stop shop for everything. You’ll find a good collection of CBS episodes of CSI, etc, but some shows you’ll see are missing.

If that’s the case, you can find your favorite TV shows online using other methods, such as going directly to major cable TV stations web sites:

You can also find TV shows using BitTorrent, which is a little more complicated, but well worth it if you can’t find something on any of the streaming media sites.

You can check out torrent episode downloader to get shows quickly using BitTorrent. Also, you can check out Miro, which I’ve used a lot and carries a lot of cool content including HD videos and shows.

Finally, as a last resort, you can check out a cool web site called Tape It Off the Internet that let’s you find your favorite TV shows, including very recent ones, and then let’s you view them in several different ways including streaming, a BitTorrent link, a link to the show on iTunes, etc. It’ll find the show in as many different ways as possible, giving you the most options for viewing it.

Other than buying a Tivo, these are the only options available for watching TV shows on your PC or computer. Enjoy watching TV at the office!

Those are pretty good but unfortunately only available in the US and they only have shows. I posted in another post on your blog, but here it is again - try out this site:

Freetube ( http://www.freetube.uni.cc ) its got a lot of channels and is pretty well known so maybe you already know it but it works well for me. The only problem is that you can’t record anything so you have to watch it right there and then like normal tv but hey its free.
