Want to watch the local news, sports, or business channels of another city is the US or maybe in another part of the world? Or maybe you’re not in town and something big is happening in your city, wouldn’t it be nice if you could still catch the local news through the Internet?

WWITV is a web site that basically finds local streaming news, business, sports, weather, government, etc web sites and creates a easily navigable directory to browse.

To start, click on your country on the left and scroll down to your state. You’ll see a listing of all the local news channels and their web streams. If there is not a live stream of the news from that local station, clicking on the link will bring you to their web site where you can play videos of the current top stories.

For my state of Louisiana, there are four live local news streams shown in green along with the data transfer speed. It’s best to have a broadband connection to view the streams.

Clicking on a live stream will bring up the video in Windows Media Player and bring up the web site automatically in your default browser. However, local news is just one aspect of the site; you can also watch kids channels, movies channels, online webcams around the world, etc.

Of course, the movies are not selectable, you simply have to watch what is playing live, but they have many categories including adventure, comedy, crime, classics, documentaries, sci-fi, dramas, etc.

And if you’re originally from another country, as I am, let’s say from India, China, France, Spain, Russia, or wherever, you can actually watch the local news in your own language live! This is great for an Indian who might want to keep up to date with cricket news in India, since it’s not really covered very much in the US. Or maybe a Chinese person would like to watch the watch stories about the latest election in China, etc.

Cool site, very useful for anyone who can’t watch the news on a TV for some reason! Enjoy!

Do you need to have a set top box for viewing these programs or will a normal home pc do?

Try Freetube ( http://www.freetube.uni.cc ). it’s similar but a little better because each channel is more fleshed out so you know what your watching and it has more working channels.
