Store and organize all of your travel plans in one place using TripIt

Are you planning a vacation with friends soon and want to have everything organized including having everyone on the same page about the itinerary, knowing the weather the day you’re arriving, checking-in before flying, having all of the phone and address information for car and hotel bookings, knowing directions from the airport to your planned destinations, printing Google maps of all locations, and having the ability to add random notes about you trip?

Well if that’s the case, you can either take out a bunch of print outs from all the different sites for the airlines, hotels, tourist attractions, etc or you can use a cool service called TripIt that will take all of your confirmation emails and organize them for you in one central place.

The way TripIt works is that you forward all of your travel confirmation emails to TripIt and they will build a skeleton itinerary for you. You can then use their TripClipper, a plug-in for the PC, that will let you flag resturants, museums, shops, attractions, or anything else and TripIt will load up maps, driving directions, weather forecasts, and other useful information about plans. TripIt it itegrates information from Google Maps, NOAA weather, SeatGuru (suggests the best seats), Wikipedia (info about the city you’re visiting), Eventful (find local events), and Flickr (for photos of the city).

The cool thing about TripIt is that you can access your plans from anywhere you can access the Internet. You can also share trip plans with friends and family. You can either make them “Viewers”, who can only see the plans or “Colloborators”, who can actually modify the plan.
