Finding high-resolution and free computer desktop wallpapers is always something of an art these days, so it’s always nice to find a site that does the searching for you! A new site called Social Wallpapering brings the Web 2.0 concept to the forefront by creating a large database of free wallpapers through the submissions of community members like you and me. It’s a great idea considering that millions of users each contributing a little bit can create a vast knowledge in a short amount of time.

The supported resolutions for the wallpapers are 1280×960, 1280×1024, 1600×1200 and any other combinations as long as it’s more than 1280×720. The site currently only has about 2,500 wallpapers, but it’s also just starting off.

There is also a rating system built into the site so that when you perform a search or click on a Category, the most popular wallpapers will be displayed first. You do not have to be registered in order to rate the wallpapers, so rate a few wallpapers by clicking the up or down arrows below an image to improve the quality of the site.

There are currently 18 categories to choose from, including Most Recent, Most Popular, Highest Rated, and Most Viewed. Other categories include Anime, Art, Music, Games, People, Seasonal, Space, Sports, and TV and Movies.

The site also has Wallpaper packs that contain all of the wallpapers on the site split into four packs, which you can download as torrents from the top menu. All you need to do is make sure you have a BitTorrent client installed on your computer, such as uTorrent, a light-weight, spy-ware free, and no-cost client.
