A few weeks back I mentioned two services, Clickster and G2P Beta, both of which use Google search technology to find free music that is stored on the Internet. Of course, this is great because it’s completely legal and there is just about every song known to man somewhere on the Internet. Now I have found SeeqPod, which uses it’s own proprietary search developed at UC’s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory to find, discover and stream music and video files to your computer. I have to say, it kicks Clickster and G2P’s butts badly.

SeeqPod’s motto is called “Playable Search”, which basically means that it’s purpose is to find media files on the Internet and allow you to play them directly from their web site. And that’s just the start! After you search for something, not only can you play the song, you can also play the music video directly from the site, create an infinitely long play list that you can save and come back to, or embed your play list into your MySpace, FaceBook, or other online social network profiles!

Perform a search and SeeqPod will start to list all of the available media on the left side. The cool thing is that if it does not find something you are looking for, it starts searching for that information automatically all over the Internet. You can see what is currently being indexed into their database by clicking on the PodCrawler tab. Once you move your mouse over a song, you’ll see a green arrow to the right, click that to add the song to your play list. You can also click on the little TV icon to watch the music video for that song.

Another very cool feature of SeeqPod is that you can click on Options for a particular song and get all kinds of information about it, including tour dates for the band, Wikipedia article, lyrics for the song, blog posts about the song, news about the song, buy the song from Amazon.com, and even get ringtones that you can use on your mobile phone!

When you hover over the song, click on Options to get to these links:

One thing to note is that once you add a few songs to your play list, if you want to play another song on the list, you have to double click instead of single click. It took me five minutes to figure that out since I’m so used to single clicking while browsing the web!

Lastly, you might find that all tracks for a band or artist are not listed in the search results tab, just the most popular ones. You can either click the Discoveries tab to see all songs or click the button at the top right that shows the next page of results.

Overall, a very cool web site that might even let you replace your desktop media player (Windows Media Player, etc) as the norm! Sound quality is also excellent and the songs start playing back almost immediately. The best streaming music service out there. Enjoy!

I want to know where can i go to get music without paying for it, without downloading programs and without signing up to anything. I need suggestions people.
