Search and listen to free Internet radio stations using Iheard

Internet radio is probably one of the best things to happen since the invention of the light bulb! Ok maybe not, but it’s still really nice to be able to listen to your favorite music without having to be in your car. However, there are so many Internet radio stations now, that it’s a little hard to find some really good ones. There are cool sites like Tun3r that let you browse through hundreds of stations, but it’s terrible if you’re looking for something specific.
That’s where Iheard can help you out! It’s a newly launched site from Fusa Capital that complies a huge database of online radio stations that you can search instantly! You can also browse the directory of thousands of stations categorized by genre, country, and language.
Iheard does not actually host or stream any of the radio stations, they simply capture and store the data about each station and then connect the listeners to the stations. However, the cool thing about Iheard is that it does not just link you to the radio station site, but instead actually plays the songs off their site, which is really nice.
Depending on the station, you’ll have a choice of streaming formats including Windows Media Player, iTunes, Winamp, and RealPlayer, so you’re pretty much covered when it comes to listening to a station.
Iheard also includes simulcasts offered by AM and FM radio stations on top of Internet-only radio stations. Finally, the stations have ratings, so you can quickly find the most popular stations by seeing how many green stars it has.
I was also impressed when I performed a search for Hindi and got back 18 results! That’s a pretty good number of Hindi radio stations, so non-English users will find it useful also.
Have fun and enjoy your newfound radio stations!

Hi,
I’m writing on behalf of TUN3R.
I just wanted to point out that it is possible to search both the playlists of the stations listed on The Dial, as well as the contents of the homepages (which are crawled more frequently than Google crawls). The search boxes are just above The Dial
So, with TUN3R it is simple and straightforward to execute pinpoint searches. However, audio browsing can be fun too!
With kind regards,
Neil Hepburn [resident Janitor at TUN3R]
Hi Neil,
Thanks for the tips! I was not aware of the search features on TUN3R, appreciate the comment!
