Planzo – Free online calendar to manage and share events with family and friends

Planzo is a new online calendar that is very easy to use, has lots of features, and is completely free. Using Planzo, you can create events and share them on your personal weblog, web site, or via IM programs like AIM, Yahoo, etc. Planzo, like Google Calendar, uses AJAX which allows for a single click directly on the calendar to begin typing in an event.
Once you sign up, Planzo allows you to customize the interface heavily, which is not yet possible with Google Calendar. You can pick from several site design templates to match your style. Other features of Planzo include the ability to send daily email digests with your day’s events every morning, ability to send text messages with event details to your phone, share your calendar events with other friends, control who can see your events, and the ability to put your calendar up on an existing web site.
Similar to Google Calendar, you can add in events from other people’s calendars or even their entire calendar so you can see what your friends and family are up to directly from your own calendar.

Planzo also has a notebook and todo list feature integrated with their calendars. Using the Notebook, you can quickly upload files, photos, or write notes and share them with your friends. The ToDo list is easy to use and lets you give a priority of High, Medium, or Low to your tasks. The list can be included in your daily digest email or shared with others if you like.
Planzo has a couple of more nice features, such as a Wall, which is similar to the “Wall” concept on FaceBook. Your friends can write notes about you or leave you messages. Another feature that is kind of interesting is the “Calendar Pinups”, which lets you pick a custom image for the background of your calendar. Currently, however, you can only choose pictures from HotOrNot, which makes for a scandalous calendar!

You can also create your own groups and allow everyone to join or just the people you choose. One thing that I noticed about Planzo that I really liked was the fact that there were no ads on the site at all! No Google Ads or anything else for that matter. Considering it’s free, I thought there would be some ads, but I could not find any!
Lastly, one other nice feature is the ability to get your events or someone else’s events via RSS. So if you’re big into RSS, you can simply subscribe to the calendar feed! Enjoy!
