Listen to music online for free using SingsBOX

Want to know where you can listen to music online for free? Want to listen to classical music online? Or want to listen to country music online? Whatever, you want to listen to online, there are a number of ways you can listen to your favorite music online without having to download MP3s illegally.

I’ve previously written about other online music listening services, such as Songza, a great way to listen to music online that includes the music videos along with the song. I also wrote about SeeqPod, but it didn’t have a good indexing of foreign music in it’s database.

SingsBOX is another service for listening to music online that looks promising. It’s very similar to Songza in that it finds just about any song you can look for. It also works great on finding songs from foreign artists, such as Hindi music, etc.

Type in the name of the song and click Search to get started. I like SingsBOX a bit better than Songza because it does a slightly better job of guessing if you don’t type in the name of the song or the artist exactly right.

With SingsBOX, you can listen to the song, add it to your playlist, or embed the song on your website or blog. Both services allow you to report a broken link if a song does not play at all or is something completely different than what it should be.

The advantage to SingsBOX is that you can embed the song into your website or blog using the embed code. You can’t do that in Songza right now.

I also found that SingsBOX returns more results than does Songza, so if you can’t find a song on Songza, come to SingsBOX and you might be able to find it here.

There’s really nothing much else to the service, though I wish they had an option to view the music video of the song if it can find it on YouTube. Songza recently added that feature and it works really well! It’s definitely more fun to listen to a song while watching the video also.

Note that neither of these services can be used to download MP3s of songs. They only index the links to the songs, which are hosted on other servers across the Internet. Enjoy!
