A couple of weeks back I wrote about a cool MP3 music search engine called Seeqpod that can be used to find and listen to MP3 music online. Simply type in the name of the artist or of the song and Seeqpod would scours through it’s database of millions of songs and pulls out exactly what you’re looking for.

However, one problem that I had with Seeqpod was that it did not find any songs for foreign artists. I being an Indian, searched for some pretty famous Indian artists and nothing showed up! I was quite surprised because Seeqpod simply indexes all of the songs it finds on the Internet and doesn’t actually store them, but it still could not find my favorite foreign artists.

Luckily, however, I just ran across another service that helps you not only find free MP3 music online, but also allows you to listen called Songza.

Songza works in a very similar fashion to Seeqpod, simply search by song or band and a list of songs that Songza has indexed from across the Internet will show up below.

After playing around with Songza, there are two big advantages that I found over Seeqpod in terms of usability: firstly, Songza finds songs from US artists and foreign artists and secondly Songza has some cool features including the ability to rate songs and share them with others.

In terms of finding esoteric artists from foreign countries, Songza was able to find all kinds of random Indian bands and musicians! I was very impressed and quite happy! I’ll definitely be switching over to Songza for my music listening needs.

Once you click on a song from the list, you’ll get a small little menu that appears over the song to perform an action:

Overall, it’s a great way to listen to your favorite MP3 music online without having to download M3’s illegally. If you’re still using Kaaza or Bearshare, etc to download free MP3 music, you run the risk of being sent a scary lawsuit from the RIAA. Stay clear of all that by simply going to this site and listening to the most recent popular music. You’re not downloading or distributing it illegally, so you don’t have to worry about anything.
